- A hardware device is installed into a transit vehicle. The transit vehicle utilizes the device's cellular capabilities for location and vehicle data.
- When the transit vehicle returns to the maintenance yard at the end of a shift, it enters the yard’s Wi-Fi Hotspot.
- The device is programmed to connect to this Hotspot. Data transferred can include picture, passenger count, stored device data and fare receipt data.
- The device’s cellular link remains connected during the Wi-Fi data transfer.
